Bowling better than Disneyland????

This weekend we had planned a trip to California to see Matt's parents and to go to Disneyland. However, the day before we were supposed to leave Jackson got sick, them mom and Charlie got sick.  Because of that and some other reasons we decided to postpone the trip till the end of the month.  Jackson was well aware of our little trip too.  We had made a paper chain and every day we would tear off a link and count the days till our little venture started, then we would X out every day that passed on the calendar!  Yeah, talk about getting a boy's hopes up then crushing them right before his very eyes!  So, after telling him we weren't gonna go because we were sick he looked at me and said, "But mom, Mickey will help me feel better."  UGH!  Rip my heart out with a spoon please!!  So, to get past all the guilty horrible feelings that overwhelmed me that very moment, I promised him we would do something fun! And that something was bowling!
So, I think he quickly forgot about Mickey Mouse and roller coaster rides as soon as he stepped into the Bedrocks Fun Factory! This kid loves to bowl!  And he's perty darn good too!
Just look at that stance! Such perfect form!
Wait for it........wait for it...... (that's what he said while waiting!) Charlie had a great time playing with his toes and observing in this new and exciting environment.  Then it came time for him to get out and join the party! Look at those sweet baby blues!  And to top off the day we stopped at Sonic for an apple cherry slush! Obviously, the boy didn't make it home awake, but I am happy to say we had a great time bowling!  The score after game 1!  Yes, that reads, Matt:93 Eric:63 and Jack:77!  Yeah, I got beat by my three year old son!!

Daddy day = weeding....oh what fun!

I got Saturday morning all to myself! No kiddos, no whining, no negotiating, no changing diapers, ahhh it was heaven!  I drove up to Phoenix to see a friend and get my hair cut and colored.  While I was away, Matt had planned a fabulous day for the boys!
On Wednesday of last week Matt told Jack that while I was gone they could weed the front yard! One might think that a three year old would throw a monster tantrum just at the suggestion of weeding, however, not Jackson.  For some reason this kid loves to weed.  We heard about it all week: "Mom, is it time to weed yet?"
So Jackson and Matt took some bonding time and pulled up all the weeds in our rocky front yard.  All the while, poor Charlie was missing out and was down for his nap! Hmm...I need to take more mornings to myself, not only did I get a break from being a mom, but I came home to a nicely weeded house! (Not to mention Matt cleaned up the inside of the house too!)
