Just a note on the monsoon video

Okay, last night we experienced one of the worst storms I have ever seen!  The lightening in the video we posted below does not do justice to what we watched outside our windows.  Matt took Jackson to pick up his parents at the airport and they got stuck in the airplane because the lightening was hitting three miles away from the runway.  Then Matt called and informed me that the airport was closing because there was so much rain that the manholes were popping their lids and were shooting water like they were geysers.  Finally, his parents were able to get off the plane, but had to leave their baggage because the airport would not risk sending people out in that kind of weather to retrieve it.  Meanwhile, I sat at home listening to the loud thunder and watching the strobe like lightening.  It was scary!

Monsoon

We are in what we call "monsoon season" here in Arizona.  We have been graced with some pretty incredible lightening and thunder storms.  Matt went out to capture a storm on camera, the lightening didn't stop once...it was kind of freaky! And of course, you have Jackson singing in the background!

Reading stories

The other day I told Jackson it was time to take a nap. Since we had Uncle Sam staying with us for a couple of days, Jackson had been sleeping in our bed.  I got distracted after telling him about nap time and when I found him he was sitting on my bed reading himself his favorite book.
He was repeating it word for word!
And his favorite picture is the shark at the end!

Family Night

Last night for family night we did things a little backwards.  After Matt and Jackson went swimming we came in and made s'mores. Jackson wasn't too keen on the sticky marshmallow but he loved the chocolate!
Then for the lesson we read from the Children's Book of Mormon about Nephi and how his brother's were not nice to him when they crossed the waters.  Jackson could not get enough of that story and wanted to keep reading, he loves to listen to stories!

A painful reminder....

Nap time has been so nice around here lately.  Jackson just climbs into bed and falls asleep, AHHH, it's so nice for an uncomfortable, large, achy, pregnant momma!  However, I came across these pictures that Matt took a while ago.  This was when he would throw himself in front of his door and kick and scream because he did not want to go to sleep, and I guess this day he wore himself out.
I used to have large alphabet cards taped to his wall in this area, but they eventually all got ripped down during this kid's tantrum tirades!!  Oh and I guess I should mention he loves Lightening McQueen (Cars) and just has to have him to sleep with.

In somebody else's shoes

You all probably won't find this as funny, but Matt and I were almost in tears watching Jackson walk around in Matt's shoes. It looked like Jackson had monster feet!
I think Matt's shoe fetish has been passed down to his son (unfortunately he got my cheesiness, the proof is in the picture above!).   Jack loves to wear Matt's shoes around the house.
One day it is his flip-flops, the next day it is his work shoes, and the next, his tennis shoes.
I am glad we have such a fun kid to keep us laughing!

A fun visitor!

Matt's cousin KC came out for business and brought his two year old Hailey. They stayed for a couple of days and Jackson and her became good, fast friends.  I watched her on Friday and I have to admit, it was much easier to have two kids than it is to have one.  They entertained each other and had lots of fun.  It was nice to have someone occupy Jackson's time so he wasn't always climbing on me!!
They came up with lots of silly faces.
And cute ones at that! Jackson was so sad when his new friend left.

Dance Party!

Hailey wanted to show off her dancing skills! And boy can she dance!  Jackson just kind of jumps around in the background.  It was a nice way to get rid of some of their energy.

Splash Pad

Jackson and Hailey finished off their fun weekend by taking their dads to the splash pad.
Hailey enjoyed going down the slide, and apparently she went really fast!
Oh my translucent child!  Maybe one day he will get some color to his skin!  He does have some freckles starting on his little nose!  Looks like he is going to take after his mom in that department, much to Matt's dismay.
